Seated Madonna with Child – Hand-Carved Wooden Statue from South Tyrol

Seated, in a red robe and blue cloak, with the Child on her lap: this is how this wooden statue shows the seated Madonna with Child. It was hand-carved in Val Gardena and is available in three finishes.

Mary as a mother holding the Child Jesus is one of the most common Christian motifs. Here it is worked as a seated group in which the Child looks towards the viewer. No particular venerated image is meant by it.

• Heights: 14 cm, 22 cm, 29 cm, 43 cm
• Finishes: Natural (finely sanded, untreated wood), multicolour stained (three stain tones with wax, depending on the motif with gold or silver accents) or hand-painted (with oil colours, gold leaf and silver leaf details)
• Wood: wood from the Gardena Valley – mainly lime wood, depending on size also maple or Swiss stone pine

For a christening or as a gift for a young mother, the seated figure is a calm motif because it speaks of security. The natural finish suits modern homes, the hand painting the parlour with its Herrgottswinkel (the traditional crucifix corner).

Every Madonna is made individually, and grain and painting vary slightly. It takes approx. 4–5 weeks until you have her in your hands. She is shipped insured via UPS from our warehouse in Flieden, to all delivery countries and for €6.90. Every piece is blessed by a Catholic priest in our warehouse in Flieden and comes with a certificate card showing the date of the blessing. Please report any transport damage within 48 hours.
