Description & details

The Praying Wall Madonna shows Mary with folded hands, her head tilted slightly to one side, a veil over her hair. The statue is hand-carved in Val Gardena after Karl Demetz and is available in two finishes.

As a motif, the praying Mary stands for devotion and trust: she does not turn to us but to God, and invites us to do likewise. No particular miraculous image is meant by it.

  • Heights: 20 cm, 30 cm, 40 cm, 60 cm
  • Finishes: natural (finely sanded, untreated wood) or hand-painted (with oil paints, gold leaf and silver leaf details, fixed with lacquer)
  • Wood: wood from the Gardena Valley – mainly lime wood, depending on size also maple or Swiss stone pine

In the natural finish the grain stays visible; hand-painted, it fits into the crucifix corner (Herrgottswinkel). For a wedding, a housewarming or remembrance in times of bereavement, this wall Madonna can be a quiet companion.

Every piece is one of a kind, as carving marks and colour differ from statue to statue. Approx. 4–5 weeks later your Madonna arrives; she travels insured via UPS from our warehouse in Flieden, to all delivery countries, €6.90. Every piece is blessed by a Catholic priest in our warehouse in Flieden and comes with a certificate card showing the date of the blessing.
