A rosary accompanies many Catholics through their life of prayer: in the pocket, by the bed or in the car. At LUNEXUS you will find six rosaries in wood, glass or haematite, most with 59 beads, each with a crucifix on a silver-coloured link chain. Each carries a medal or plaque as its centrepiece. All are blessed, a certificate card showing the date of the blessing is included, and several come in a velvet pouch. As a gift for Communion, Confirmation or christening they are ready to give straight away. The price is €29.90. Shipped via Amazon's logistics network – free within Germany, €5.90 to Austria and France; Italy €6.90, Spain €6.90.

What is a rosary?

The rosary is a prayer cord of the Catholic Church. The beads help you keep track of the prayers as you say them, without having to count. A cross hangs at the start, followed by a few single beads and then the large circle. This is divided into five sections, the decades. A single bead separates one decade from the next.

How do you pray the rosary?

You begin at the cross with the Creed and say the opening prayers on the first beads. Then follows the first decade: an Our Father on the single bead, then ten Hail Marys on the small beads and, to finish, the “Glory Be”. So it goes through all five decades. For each decade you think of a mystery from the life of Jesus. There are the Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries. Which set is prayed on which day of the week is given in every prayer book; feel free to take your time and pray at your own pace. Many people pray the rosary especially in October, the month of the rosary.

Our rosaries: wood, glass and haematite

We have rosaries in wood in dark brown, light brown with pine grain and black, as well as in glass beads in marbled blue (47 cm) and red (50 cm) and in polished haematite beads in dark grey. Most models have a St Benedict cross or a St Benedict medal, the blue and light brown rosaries a Miraculous Medal, the red one a Madonna plaque. The length is about 47 to 50 cm. You will find more St Benedict items under St Benedict.

The rosary as a gift

A rosary is a classic gift for First Holy Communion, Confirmation and christening. It is often given by godparents and grandparents and frequently lasts a lifetime. Because all the rosaries are blessed and a certificate card is included, there is nothing more for you to arrange. The length of 47 to 50 cm is designed for young people and adults. If you are looking for several pieces for a parish or a school class, you will find the quantity discount on the page Volume discount.

Goes well with

When putting a gift together, people like to add to the rosary a cross for the wall or jewellery, for example a cross necklace from the necklaces. All blessed items at a glance, and woodwork from Bethlehem under Olive wood from Bethlehem. How we bless is explained under How we bless.

Caring for your rosary

Keep the rosary in the velvet pouch or in a box so that the chain does not tangle and the beads do not rub against each other. A soft, dry cloth is enough for cleaning. Avoid water, perfume and creams, especially on wooden beads and metal parts. Haematite and glass are sensitive to knocks, so it is best not to carry them in a bag with keys.
