This Madonna with Child bears the title “Mother of Mercy”. Mary holds the Child Jesus in her arm, and he turns towards her and stretches out his hand to her; her robe falls in broad folds. The wooden statue comes in six sizes, from the shelf to the church.

The Latin title is “Mater misericordiae” and is known above all from the Salve Regina, the prayer in which Mary is addressed in this way. Mercy here means her open heart for the people who entrust themselves to her. No separate legend about this figure has been handed down.
