The Madonna with Child “Mother of Kindness” is made in the workshop of Demi Art S.r.l. in the Gardena Valley (Val Gardena) in South Tyrol – a place known for centuries for its masterly woodcarving. Under the direction of master sculptor Karl Demetz, figures are created there that join tradition, faith and artistic precision.
The lime wood used is carefully selected and gently dried over several years. Thanks to its fine structure, this wood is especially well suited to precise carving and richly detailed depictions. The production process comprises numerous craft steps – from the rough cutting through the fine carving to sanding, priming and the final painting or gilding.
The figure is available in several finishes, each with its own aura:
– Natural – untreated, with fine grain and warm wood colour
– 3-tone stained – soft colour gradients that emphasise depth and contrast
– Coloured – hand-painted with high-quality oil paints
– Genuine gold leaf – noble gilding with lustre
Each figure is carefully inspected before it leaves the workshop. The optional Val Gardena quality seal stands for verified origin and craft quality from South Tyrol. The combination of artistic sensitivity, traditional manufacture and spiritual symbolism makes the “Mother of Kindness” a lasting expression of genuine devotional art – created to endure.
