Olive Wood Tau Cross 15 cm (Wall Cross) from Bethlehem – blessed in our warehouse

The tau cross

Tau is the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet and has the shape of a T. In Christian tradition it is regarded as an early sign of the cross, and later became especially well known in Franciscan spirituality. A tau cross on the wall looks simple and yet distinctive, because it does without the upper beam. You can hang it as a sign of your faith in the bedroom or the nursery. As a gift for a christening, Communion or Confirmation, it reminds a godchild of companionship and connection.

Olive wood from Bethlehem

In Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus, working olive wood has a long tradition. This tau cross is handmade there. The wood shows a warm, honey-coloured base colour with dark grain lines that run differently on every piece. The surface is smoothly sanded and the edges are gently rounded. A small hole for wall mounting is already drilled, so you can hang the cross with a nail or hook without any extra tools.
