The four symbols on this candle plate are at the heart of Communion: the cross recalls Jesus' self-giving, the host with rays the Eucharist, the chalice the Last Supper, grapes and ears of wheat wine and bread. They are worked into the white glass in gold and glow when the candle burns. The plate thus becomes the quiet centrepiece of the festive table and remains a keepsake for the child, parents and godparents after the celebration. It also suits a christening, Confirmation or wedding.
The candle plate is made of white glass, measures 14 × 14 cm and weighs about 220 g. In the centre is a round hollow that holds candles up to Ø 7 cm securely and catches wax drips. The four golden symbols are worked into the glass, not stuck on; according to the manufacturer, the gold colour contains 22% gold. The plate suits a Communion, christening or wedding candle and afterwards remains on the sideboard or windowsill as a quiet keepsake.
