“Gute Fahrt” (“safe journey”) – a St Christopher medal really needs to say no more. This one comes from France: a deeply embossed, silver-coloured relief shows the saint with the Child Jesus on his shoulder, with beneath it the wish that you give to every driver on their way.
Since cars became part of everyday life, St Christopher has been the patron saint of motorists – before that already of travellers, boatmen and ferrymen. In the German-speaking world his feast day is celebrated on 24 July, and around this day many parishes invite people to a vehicle blessing. He is also one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. You will find all the medals and pendants featuring him underSt Christopher.
