Brushed matt and finely relief-worked: this silver-coloured St Christopher keyring measures 9 cm including the ring, and the medal on it has a diameter of 3 cm. The relief shows St Christopher with the Child Jesus.
Although the saint is so well known, little about his life is certain. He is said to have died as a martyr in Lycia in the 3rd century. In the calendar reform of 1969 the Church removed his feast from the General Roman Calendar; he remains in the Roman Martyrology, and in the German-speaking world his day is still celebrated. He is one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. You will find more in thesaints' encyclopaedia.
