Violet is rare on a bunch of keys. This St Christopher keyring sets the silver-coloured relief on a transparent violet background in an enamel look; on the back it reads “KOMM GUT HEIM” (“come home safely”). It was made in France.
St Christopher is the patron saint of travellers and pilgrims, of motorists, and of boatmen and ferrymen. The name means “Christ-bearer”, and the child on his shoulder is the core of the well-known legend. He has been depicted for centuries just as he stands here, in the river and with a long staff.
