When the key is missing, many people say a quick prayer to St Anthony. This keyring gives him a permanent place right there: as a fully sculpted figure in a silver-coloured antique look, with the Child Jesus and a lily.
Anthony was born around 1195 in Lisbon, joined the Franciscans and became a sought-after preacher. He died on 13 June 1231 near Padua. The practice of invoking him for lost things goes back to a legend: a novice is said to have taken his psalter and, after an apparition, returned it. The Child Jesus in his arms refers to a further tradition. You can read more in theLexicon entry on St Anthony of Padua.
