The Venetian crucifix shows Christ as a corpus on a wooden cross, hand-carved in Val Gardena. It suits the wall in a living room, above a door or in the Herrgottswinkel (the traditional crucifix corner), just as well as an office or a parish study.
“Venezianisch” (Venetian) is the workshop's designation for this form. A particular historical model cannot be documented, so we do not interpret the name. What is certain is the basic meaning: the crucifix recalls Jesus' death on the cross and is for many Christians a sign of redemption.
- Sizes: 15 cm, 20 cm, 30 cm, 36 cm, 60 cm
- Finish: Stained (stain of water and wax in a medium wood tone, slightly glossy)
- Wood: wood from the Gardena Valley – mainly lime wood, depending on size also maple or Swiss stone pine
Stained here means: the wood remains recognisable as wood, and the grain shows through the tone. That suits plain rooms as well as dark furniture. A crucifix like this is often given for the blessing of a house, for a wedding or for Confirmation.
It takes approx. 3–4 weeks until the Venetian crucifix hangs in your home. It comes insured directly from the workshop in South Tyrol, shipping goes to Germany and Austria only and costs €6.90. Every piece is one of a kind: grain and carving marks differ from cross to cross.
