The Limpias Crucifix shows Christ on a dark wooden cross: with a halo of rays behind his head, a golden loincloth and the INRI plaque above his head. The corpus is hand-carved and painted in Val Gardena, a cross for the Herrgottswinkel (the traditional crucifix corner), the chapel or the prayer room.
The model is the “Santo Cristo de la Agonía”, the venerated image of grace in the parish church of St Peter in Limpias (Cantabria, Spain). The crucifix above the high altar is attributed to a 17th-century work. Since reports from 1919, Limpias has been a place of pilgrimage. You will also find a corpus in this form among theChrist figures and crucifixes from the workshop.
- Size: 40 cm

A crucifix like this often accompanies a big moment: moving into a new home, a parish jubilee or the honouring of someone who has served the Church for a long time. It hangs just as well in the living room as in a small prayer room.
