The “Unikum” (“One of a Kind”) cross is a wooden cross without a corpus, made of several beams laid one over another. In the middle sits a small golden sun, from which rays extend into the arms of the cross; the ends carry small squares in gold and silver.
The model name is a designation by the workshop. The layered construction gives the plain cross depth without changing its form. For many Christians the cross remains a sign of faith, and the rays add a bright accent.
- Heights: 42 cm, 50 cm, 70 cm
- Finish: Hand-painted: oil colours, gold leaf and silver leaf details, fixed with lacquer
- Material: Wood from the Val Gardena valley (mainly lime wood, depending on size also maple or Swiss stone pine)
It suits the Herrgottswinkel (the traditional crucifix corner), a hallway with plenty of wall, or a gift for the opening of a parish room. Figures from thewoodcarving workshop come into question as a complement.
Even though the name is “Unikum”: with this cross every piece differs, because wood and hand painting never turn out quite the same. Delivery takes approx. 3–4 weeks, and insured shipping from South Tyrol costs €6.90 and goes to Germany and Austria only.
