Emidius, spelt Emygdius in some sources, stands here as a wooden statue in episcopal vestments. It appeals to friends of Italy and to people with a connection to the Marche and to the city of Ascoli Piceno.

He is patron saint of the city of Ascoli Piceno and is invoked when there is danger of earthquakes. The statue shows him as a bishop with mitre and staff.
