Unlike the round medals, this oval St Christopher medal stands upright, like a small altarpiece: 4.8 cm high and 2.8 cm wide. The silver-coloured relief shows the saint with the Child Jesus, and it was made in Italy.
Little is historically certain about the life of St Christopher. He is said to have died as a martyr in Lycia, in what is now Turkey, probably in the reign of the Emperor Decius. What is certain is that he was venerated early on. Much of what we associate with him today comes from tradition and legend.
- Dimensions: 4.8 cm high × 2.8 cm wide
- Shape: oval
- Weight: approx. 20 g
- Surface: silver-coloured, detailed relief
- Fastening: strong magnet or adhesive strip
The tall shape works well in places where a round medal would quickly look lost, such as on a narrow strip of the centre console. Give it to a newcomer on the road, for a birthday or as thanks for a safe homecoming.
