Description & details

The plain cross for the contemplative corpus is a smooth wooden cross without a figure. It has a long, slightly tapering upright and a thin crossbeam whose ends are only slightly cut out. You receive the cross on its own, without a corpus.

The workshop has dispensed with decoration here, hence the “plain” cross. On its own it stands as a sign of faith, and if you wish you can add a matching corpus later. The grain of the wood remains visible and gives the cross warmth.

  • Finish: Hand-painted – the oil colours are applied by hand, with gold leaf and silver leaf details and lacquer added
  • Wood: Wood from the Val Gardena valley (mainly lime wood, depending on size also maple or Swiss stone pine)

The small heights suit a spot above a door or a bedroom, while the largest belong in a chapel, a cemetery chapel or on the end wall of a large room. For the jubilee of a parish group it can be a calm shared gift; you will find more in thestatues of Christ.

The plain cross is hand-carved in Val Gardena, and each one gets slightly different grain and colour. Delivery takes approx. 3–4 weeks and comes straight from the South Tyrolean workshop with no intermediate warehouse; insured, to Germany and Austria only, €6.90.
