On this tau cross the centre is cut away: only the outline of the T remains as wood, and your collar or skin shows through between. It is the most delicate variant of our tau necklaces.

The tau was the favourite sign of St Francis of Assisi; it is named after the Greek letter tau and is still a Franciscan sign today. Openwork makes the symbol look lighter and more restrained, and it can be worn well under an open shirt.
