Description & details

In this wall piece, Christ hangs as a reduced wooden figure before a curved wooden plaque that tapers to a point at the top and runs into a narrow strip at the bottom. The plaque suggests the cross without showing beams. The figure has widely outstretched arms.

“Holzkreuzplatte” (wooden cross plaque) is the workshop’s designation for the form. The plaque replaces the classic cross and gives the figure a calm background. For many Christians, Jesus on the cross is the central sign of redemption.

In Val Gardena this cross plaque is made as handwork by the carvers, each with different grain. You will have it in your home after approx. 3–4 weeks; we deliver insured from South Tyrol, to Germany and Austria only, for €6.90.
