Modern Christ on Cross – Hand-Carved Wooden Cross from South Tyrol

This modern crucifix shows Christ as a reduced wooden figure on a dark, narrow cross. The body is worked without detail, the arms are spread diagonally upwards, and a face is only suggested. The wood of the figure is left untreated.

“Modern Christ on Cross” is the workshop’s designation for its modern design. Reduced forms give the viewer room to complete the figure for themselves. The crucifix recalls the death of Jesus on the cross and remains a sign of redemption for believers.

• Sizes: 15 cm, 30 cm
• Finish: natural – finely sanded, untreated wood
• Wood: Val Gardena wood, mainly lime wood, depending on size also maple or Swiss stone pine

In a modern living space with light-coloured walls, in an office or in a parish office, it looks pleasantly unobtrusive. It also makes a gift for an ordination, for an anniversary in office, or for someone who finds classical crucifixes too heavy.

The figure is carved by hand in Val Gardena, and the grain of the light wood is different on every crucifix. We can deliver after approx. 3–4 weeks, insured from South Tyrol, to Germany and Austria only; shipping costs €6.90.
