Description & details

The fish on this glass cross is one of the oldest identifying signs of Christians. Done in white, yellow and gold, the 22 × 15 cm cross looks friendly and bright, especially when daylight shines through the glass.

The Greek word ICHTHYS means fish. The individual letters can be read as initials and stand for “Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour”. Early Christians used the sign to recognise one another; today it is a simple profession of faith that anyone who knows it can interpret.
