Description & details

God the Father spreads his arms above the cross, the dove hovers beneath him, Christ hangs on the cross, and at its foot stands a veiled, grieving figure: this crucifixion group with the Holy Trinity is a large image for a chapel, church or parish hall. It is made in Val Gardena and painted by hand.

The group joins the Crucifixion with a depiction of the Trinity: God the Father, the Son on the cross and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. The motif takes up an old pictorial idea in which the Crucifixion and the Trinity are seen together. As in any crucifixion group, figures are shown at the cross, here with the additional figure at its foot.
