Description & details

This cross with Christ is a crucifix in small format: a slender wooden cross bearing the crucified Christ with the INRI sign at the top. It is carved in Val Gardena. It fits on the chest of drawers, the bedside table or a wall that does not offer much space.

A crucifix shows the crucified Christ, the corpus, on the cross. That is how it differs from the cross without a corpus, which shows only the beams. For Christians it is a sign of faith and redemption.

  • Finishes: natural (untreated, finely sanded wood), multicolour stained (stained in three tones and waxed, depending on the motif with accents in gold or silver), hand-painted (painted with oil colours, decorated with gold leaf and silver leaf, fixed with lacquer)
  • Wood: wood from the Gardena Valley – mainly lime wood, depending on size also maple or Swiss stone pine

At 6, 8 or 15 cm, the crucifix can be given without seeming pushy: for First Holy Communion, Confirmation, a christening or as a gift for a sickroom. The small formats are also suited to travel and care homes.
