The Bohemian Crucifix is a wooden cross with a corpus whose crossbar runs slightly curved downwards. The body of Christ is worked in a sculptural way, with visible ribs and a loincloth, and the INRI sign sits above. The cross has the warm colour of stained wood.
The name “Bohemian Crucifix” is a designation used by the workshop. A historical model from Bohemia cannot be documented, so here we describe only the appearance. A crucifix recalls the death of Jesus on the cross and is a sign of redemption for believers.
- Sizes: 20 cm, 36 cm
- Finishes: stained (stain of water and wax in a medium wood tone, slightly glossy) or multicolour stained (three stain tones with wax, depending on the motif with gold or silver accents)
- Wood: Val Gardena wood, mainly lime wood, depending on size also maple or Swiss stone pine
The smaller size finds room in a Herrgottswinkel (crucifix corner), the larger one on a free wall of the living room. For people who value a traditional crucifix without much colour, it is a gift for building a house, a wedding or an anniversary. Further models are shown among thecrucifixes.
