Description & details

This St Christopher medal measures just Ø 2.3 cm, and yet it carries a whole story: according to legend, the giant Christopher carried a child safely across a raging river. Made in Italy, the medal shows the saint with the Child Jesus in silver-coloured relief with a dark patina.

The legend tells how a child asked Christopher to carry him across, and in the middle of the water the load grew heavier and heavier. On the bank the child told him that he had carried the Creator of the world. It is a pious tale with no historical proof, but it explains why the saint is so close to travellers.
