Description & details

The Holy Family on the way to Egypt is a rarely shown Christmas motif, and this olive wood pendant gives it form: beneath the star of Bethlehem the family sets out. It measures approx. 9.0 × 8.0 cm and is handmade in Bethlehem.

According to the Gospel of Matthew, Joseph flees with Mary and the Child to Egypt from King Herod. The motif recalls that the family of Jesus were themselves refugees, and so still speaks today to people who have had to leave their homeland. The wood comes from the town the family set out from.

  • Dimensions: approx. 9.0 × 8.0 cm, approx. 18 g
  • Motif: the Holy Family on the way to Egypt beneath the star of Bethlehem
  • Surface: smoothly sanded, untreated, visible grain
  • Hanging: gold and silver ribbon, 20 cm each, with fastener

It suits Advent and the Christmas tree, as well as a birthday or First Holy Communion, Confirmation and Protestant confirmation. As a gift for someone who is travelling or starting anew, it carries a quiet thought of companionship.

A Catholic priest blesses this pendant in our own warehouse too; the certificate card gives the date. Delivered via Amazon's logistics network – free within Germany, €5.90 to Austria and France; Italy €6.90, Spain €6.90, with 30-day returns. Because of the small parts, please do not give it to children under 3 years.
