Description & details

Silver-coloured relief on a deep blue ground: this Marian necklace carries the Miraculous Medal as its pendant. The blue recalls the mantle of the Mother of God and gives the motif a calm colour that suits many outfits.

The medal goes back to Catherine Labouré, a novice in Paris who reported Marian apparitions in 1830; from 1832 the medal was struck. The front shows Mary standing on the globe with open hands, with the inscription “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee”. It is a sign of prayer and not a guarantee of protection. The Church celebrates the feast on 27 November.
