Mary with open hands on a transparent blue ground: this keyring carries the Miraculous Medal as a silver-coloured relief in an enamel-effect finish. On the reverse you can see the Marian cross and two hearts.
The medal goes back to apparitions reported by the young novice Catherine Labouré in Paris in 1830. They are private revelations, recognised by the Church but not binding for belief. The inscription reads “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee”; on the pendant it appears in Latin (REGINA SINE LABE ORIGINALI CONCEPTA). The medal is a sign of prayer and of trust in Mary's intercession.
