This guardian angel picture shows an angel keeping two children safe from a snake – a more dramatic motif than the calm bridge and stream scenes. In 12 × 17 cm it is a picture for anyone who does not shy away from danger in a picture and sets the belief in God's companionship against it.

In Christian imagery the snake stands for danger and temptation; the children in the picture often do not even see it. That fits the psalm's words: “he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways” (Ps 91:11). The picture is an artistic interpretation, not an account of events, and promises no technical safety. It tells of the fact that people may ask for help.
