Anthony Mary Claret meets you here as a wooden statue in episcopal vestments, with mitre and staff. A piece for Claretians and their friends, for people named Anthony and for everyone who venerates a Spanish missionary bishop.
Claret was born on 23 December 1807 in Sallent near Barcelona and died on 24 October 1870 in Fontfroide. He founded the Claretians in 1849 and was Archbishop of Santiago de Cuba from 1850. He was canonised in 1950. His feast day is 24 October. The statue simply shows him as a bishop.
- Dimensions: 20 cm · 30 cm · 40 cm · 60 cm · 80 cm
- Finishes: natural, i.e. without stain and colour, only carefully sanded; multicolour stained (three stain tones with wax, with gold or silver accents on details and hems of the robe depending on the motif); hand-painted (oil paint, gold leaf and silver leaf decoration, fixed with lacquer)
- Wood: wood from the Gardena Valley – mainly lime wood, depending on size also maple or Swiss stone pine
The statue makes a good gift for the name day of Antons and Antonias, for the religious anniversary of a Claretian or as a memento of a mission trip. It also finds its place in a presbytery or parish hall.
