The Riemenschneider crucifix is a hand-carved corpus on a cross, made in Val Gardena and finished in antique genuine gold leaf. It is for people who are looking for a crucifix with character: for the chapel, the parish meeting room or your own study.
The name recalls Tilman Riemenschneider, who was born around 1460 in Heiligenstadt and died on 7 July 1531 in Würzburg. He was a sculptor at the turn from the late Gothic to the Renaissance; altars, triumphal cross groups and individual crucifixes came out of his workshop. Which of his crucifixes served as the model here is not documented.
- Sizes: 40 cm
- Finish: antique genuine gold (fine craquelé surface, gilding with real gold leaf and painting)
- Wood: wood from the Gardena Valley – mainly lime wood, depending on size also maple or Swiss stone pine
The antique finish makes it look as if the cross had hung in its place for a long time. A piece like this is given on a special occasion: for an ordination, an appointment to office or a milestone birthday.
Your Riemenschneider crucifix is on its way for approx. 3–4 weeks. It travels insured from the workshop in South Tyrol, to Germany and Austria only, at €6.90 shipping. If you wish, you can rely on the 14-day statutory right of withdrawal. Every piece is one of a kind.
