Description & details

This crucifix shows the “Contemplative Corpus” on a cross with beams of several layers. Christ hangs with outstretched arms, dressed in a light cloth around the hips; above his head hangs the INRI sign. The ends of the cross are decorated with small squares in gold and silver.

“Contemplative Corpus with Cross” is the workshop’s designation; the data give no more than the design. A crucifix recalls Christ’s self-giving on the cross and is for many believers a place of quiet prayer. The calm posture of the figure suits the name.
