Mary wears a long veil and holds the Child Jesus in her arm; the lines are smooth and restrained. The form suits modern rooms as well as a chapel or home altar.

The name “Desiree” is a model name used by the workshop and has no ecclesiastical tradition. What the figure shows is the basic message of many Madonnas: Mary as the Mother of Jesus, holding her Son out to people.
